Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ophiron ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use EonChat, the digital social platform of The GoodNews World, across our web application, mobile applications, and related services (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information — your name, username/handle, email address, password, and, where you choose to provide it, your phone number.
  • Profile information — bio, avatar and cover photo, location/city/country, church branch, and website, if you add them.
  • Content you create — posts, comments, testimonies, stories, direct and group messages, and any photos, video, or audio you upload with them.
  • Payment-related information — when you give, make a purchase, register for a paid event, or book accommodation, our payment providers collect the payment details needed to process that transaction. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, its amount, and related order details — we do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Communications with us — support requests, tickets, and anything else you send us directly.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and session information — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and a push-notification token, used to keep your account secure and to deliver notifications.
  • Usage information — how you interact with the Service (for example, which screens you visit), used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
  • Cookies — the web app uses a strictly necessary, httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in. It cannot be read by any script running in your browser and is never used for advertising or cross-site tracking. See Section 7 below.

Information from other users

If someone mentions you, replies to you, or reports content involving you, we process that information as part of operating the Service and enforcing our Terms of Service.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account, and to provide the feed, messaging, calling, stories, testimonies, live streaming, devotionals, events, giving, Shop, and Fort Moriah booking features.
  • To process payments and send you order, booking, and payment confirmations.
  • To send push notifications and other service communications (for example, a new message, a mention, or an event reminder).
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service, including reports you or others submit.
  • To respond to your support requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Who we share information with

  • Other users, according to your own activity — your profile, and anything you post publicly or send to someone directly, is visible to the people the Service shows it to (for example, your followers, or the other person in a direct message).
  • Service providers we rely on to operate EonChat — cloud storage and content-delivery providers for your photos, video, and audio; a real-time communications provider for voice/video calls; a live-streaming provider; payment processors (which may include Stripe, PayPal, and EcoCash depending on your region) for giving, Shop, event, and booking payments; and a push-notification delivery service. Each only receives the information it needs to perform its function for us, and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes.
  • Legal and safety — where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ophiron, our users, or the public — including, without limitation, reporting child sexual abuse material or exploitation to the appropriate authorities as described in our Terms of Service.
  • Business transfers — if Ophiron is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

4. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account (see Delete your account), we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we are required or permitted to retain certain records — for example, financial/payment records for tax and accounting compliance, or content already reported for safety review.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Access and update — you can view and edit most of your profile information directly in the app, under Profile and Settings.
  • Delete your account — if you are signed in, use Settings → Delete account. If you cannot sign in, see Delete your account for how to request deletion another way.
  • Blocked accounts and reporting — you can block another user or report content at any time from within the app.
  • Notifications — you can manage push notifications from your device's system settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data (such as the right to request a copy of it, or to object to certain processing). Contact us at support@goodnewsworld.com to exercise these rights.

6. Children's privacy

EonChat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@goodnewsworld.com so we can investigate and, where confirmed, delete the account and associated data. See also Section 1 ("Eligibility and age requirements") and Section 5 ("Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation") of our Terms of Service.

7. Cookies and similar technologies (web)

The EonChat web app uses exactly one cookie that identifies you: a strictly necessary, httpOnly session cookie used solely to keep you signed in. It is never readable by page scripts, is never used for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking, and is not shared with any third party. We do not currently use any analytics or advertising cookies.

8. Data security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypting data in transit, restricting access to production systems, and holding authentication tokens only in memory or in an httpOnly cookie rather than in a location a malicious script could read. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

EonChat is operated from Zimbabwe, and our infrastructure providers may process and store data in other countries. Wherever your information is processed, we require our service providers to protect it consistently with this Policy.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy.
